BackGlacier
Low tables made from cast glass subject to a
high-temperature casting process. The top is formed by melting a shaped slab of
coloured glass (bronze, grey, blue, or amber) onto an extralight glass sheet,
thus creating an irregular surface that evokes the formation of glaciers,
altering the perception of the material and emphasizing its relationship with
light. The glass loses its uniformity, acquiring a denser and more physical
presence that pushes the boundary between solidity and fluidity to the extreme:
the surface appears to melt where it lands upon the underlying structure,
spreading randomly and settling softly against it. The base, in 12 mm cast
bonded transparent glass, enhances the top thanks to its visual lightness. The
top is fixed to the base on the side table whilst in the other models it simply
rests on it.
