BackADA 2025: the ‘Sustainability Award’ goes to the Opalia project
This year again Glas Italia is in the spotlight of the ADA Archiproducts Design Awards, the award promoted by Archiproducts, now in its tenth edition, celebrating the global design excellence and the synergy between designers and furniture brands.
The international jury awarded OPALIA with the ‘2025 Sustainability Award’, a recognition conferrered to brands standing out for sustainable design and circular economy, focussed on recyclable materials and product life cycle optimisation.
With OPALIA, Patricia Urquiola and Glas Italia continue their journey to enhance recycled and ‘waste’ glass, a precious material that otherwise would remain unused.
In the tables, coffee tables, consoles and vases of the collection, glass revives, transcending traditional aesthetic boundaries and transforming into a living and surprising material. Each piece is unique, made from regenerated glass which, thanks to a heat treatment, takes on a soft and irregular surface, rich in bubbles, almost liquid.
As Patricia Urquiola says: ‘Opalia is a collection where the flaw in the glass becomes beauty’.
